Tener la oportunidad de ver de cerca a estos valerosos hombres que se han preparado por mucho tiempo para soportar difíciles condiciones climáticas, geográficas, físicas y psicológicas no se podía desperdiciar. Así que el pasado domingo 5 de agosto me acerque al paso de los ciclistas por Medellín, y me uní a un nutrido y entusiasta publico que alentaba a los competidores.
Independientemente del mérito que se han ganado los que ocupan las primeras posiciones de la clasificación general de la competencia, ver el esfuerzo físico, la concentración y la perseverancia de estos aguerridos jóvenes me hizo pensar que su principal contrincante en estas competencias son ellos mismos, el enfrentarse a sus pensamientos, su cansancio y sus motivaciones a ganar. Por eso es muy comprensible que el ganador de la séptima etapa que se cumplió ese día, el venezolano Manuel Medina, llorara emocionado a su llegada y dedicó su triunfo a su hija y a su esposa.
